Folsom Lake - The Soul of a New Machine - 04-23-06

Although this is not a true trail report it was the first time I was able to get off pavement and see what this new rig could do. I entered the Granite Bay entrance to Folsom State Recreation Area and headed north to Oak Beach. It is one the few areas you can drive on the beach to the waters edge. I found a nearby obstacle to test flex and drove up it only to loose traction. I backed off, engaged four wheel drive and the rear locker. I had no problem going up and over. I then headed over some creek bed washes and over to another area with loose, deep sand. Although I was out alone there were plenty of other vehicles around if I needed a tug out. Going through the deep sand was a non issue. I felt confident so I did a small off camber hill climb and that too felt sure footed in the cruiser. On my way out I snapped some pictures on a small obstacle trying to show the fles on a stock rig.

Overall I feel confident that in my future adventures the FJ will get me through most anything. It has been a fun ride so far...
